Recruiting at all levels!

We are broadly interested in exceptionally driven individuals with background and/or interests in genome regulation, synthetic biology, combinatorial genetics, quantitative biology, computational biology, cell differentiation control, tissue injury responses (regeneration and/or fibrosis), and immune recognition of cancer cells. We are excited about both technology development and fundamental biology.

We value strong work ethic, enthusiasm, creativity, rigor, and affinity for collaborations.

We strive to create a supportive environment where individuals are encouraged to grow together scientifically and professionally by challenging ideas, each other, and themselves.

Prospective graduate students:

Instructions for UCSF graduate students considering a rotation: Please contact Chris with your CV, a statement of your interest in the lab, and potential start and end dates of rotation. Please do so as early as possible to express your interest in rotating, preferably 2 or more months ahead of the start of your potential rotation so that there would be sufficient time for Chris to meet with you over several sessions to explore scientific interests and fit prior to the start of the rotation. I am happy to discuss the potential for co-mentorships, where appropriate, such as for students with interests in computation or specific biological domains in tissue biology.

Prospective postdocs and physician-scientists:

We are looking to recruit a highly motivated, creative, and collaborative postdoctoral fellow. The postdoctoral candidate will have opportunities to develop and/or apply cutting-edge CRISPR synthetic biology and functional genomics approaches in diverse areas. In the immediate short-term we have a preference for a candidate with a strong immunology or immuno-oncology background to lead a project on new approaches to screen for combinatorial genetic perturbations to cancer cells to elicit systemic anti-tumor immunity. Successful candidates will be able to work collaboratively with junior specialists in the lab.

Please contact Chris with your CV, a statement of your interest in the lab, potential start date, and contact information for 2-3 references.

Prospective junior specialists:
